Toni Denise Phelps

Toni Denise Phelps was born on June 15, 1953, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, but later moved to Rochester, New York with her family. Toni graduated from West High School in 1971. In 1977, she began her career at Xerox Corporation, and at the time of her passing, she was the longest-tenured union employee at the Xerox facility in Webster, New York at 49 years. While working at Xerox, she met the love of her life, Milton Tymes, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned 27 years. A faithful member of Genesee Baptist Church (GBC) for 29 years, Toni lived her faith through service. She served as Trustee Board Chair, Special Events Committee Chair, 19th Ward representative for GBC, Memorial Committee Chair and Scholarship Committee member. In 2000, Toni was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she found comfort and strength through the Women of Color Group at the Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club Rochester. After courageously fighting for eight days, Toni peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lucille Phelps, and by her brother, Henry Phelps Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving partner of 27 years, Milton Tymes of Rochester, New York; her brothers, Ronald Phelps and Bryan (Chantal) Clemetson; her sisters, Yvonne Johnson of Rochester, New York and Vicki (David) Chancellor of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and coworkers.
